Welcome to the Ballet White Mountains & Dance Center!

Linda Bohn

Our Founder & Director

Linda received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet from the University of Utah, where she studied with Willam Christensen, founder of the San Francisco Ballet and Gordon Paxman, a principal dancer with the San Francisco Ballet.

As a young dancer, she attended Ted Shawn’s world-renowned summer dance camp “Jacob’s Pillow” in Massachusetts, dedicated to ballet and modern dance. Shawn, a famous pioneer in modern dance, brought in other professional dance soloists and companies from New York to perform. The instructors were prominent dancers as well.

At 17 Linda began performing Broadway musicals in an outdoor summer theater in Indianapolis, Indiana, under the direction of Ronnie Fields, a New York Tony Award-winning choreographer. She danced in Oklahoma, Kiss Me Kate, Kismet, King & I, CanCan, Li’l Abner, Fanny, Boy Friend among many others.

While in Switzerland with her husband doing graduate studies, she continued ballet studies at the Zurich Opera Ballet; where she was offered a position, but had to decline, for she and her husband were returning home to the states.

Over the years, she has danced in ballets, such as the Nutcracker, Giselle, Swan Lake, Pas De Quatre, Coppelia, Prince Igor Polovtsian Dances, Princess of the Pagodas and Les Sylphides.

Linda has created and taught ballet/dance programs for ages 6 -18 at University of Arkansas, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Essex Community College in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as teaching college ballet. A similar program she has brought to the White Mountains. Mrs. Bohn has expanded the Dance Center’s collection of dance as well as, to include ages 3 up to adult.

What our graduates and parents say

I loved seeing the beauty you nurture in class. I was on the verge of crying as I watched that beauty in my young daughters. It gave me a sense of hope that perhaps the idea of ballet is worthwhile for my daughters for deeper reasons than just a means of exercising and fun. Perhaps ballet is worth sharing with young girls because it brings out their true beauty …. in an elegant way.

Emily

Thank you so much for teaching me ballet. I enjoyed it so much. I always dreamed of doing ballet. So I am going to always call this summer “the summer of dreams come true. Thank you for making it happen.

Daniela

Watching our daughters perform with each of their classes last Friday night, they not only bloomed into beautiful, delicate, graceful ballerinas but also performed in front of a full auditorium with confidence, poise, and bliss. Thank you!

Paula

Having my 3 girls in Ballet has had a huge impact on them in several ways. All three have their own unique personalities. We decided to give Ballet a try because it is all about focus, core strength and confidence building. After being in Ballet for nearly 8 months now, we see huge positive changes in each of the girls. We are so thankful for Ballet, Ms. Bohn and her care for each and every student. Her instructions are kind, direct and never demeaning, always encouraging and motivating. She is genuinely a wonderful person and Ballet Instructor.
